ABSTRACT

It would be inaccurate to attribute the development of concrete or cement to one person or one particular time period. Like most technological developments, concrete construction is based on myriad contributions over the centuries, some of which are summarized in Table 2.1.1

2.2 CODES

Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete (ACI 318)2 provides thorough guidance for concrete design, ranging from material

requirements, to proportioning members for gravity loads and lateral seismic design provisions. Table 2.2 provides an outline of ACI 318-14 if you wish to investigate a specific topic further.
