ABSTRACT
In the forty years from 1905 to 1945, three-quarters of the Accumulating and Deposit societies, half the Juvenile societies and nearly two-thirds of the Dividing societies have disappeared from the Register. The mortality among Death and Burial societies has been much less, not one in five. The small number of societies registered in 1905 for Other Specialised purposes has increased more than threefold.
