ABSTRACT
In the preceding two chapters, we have examined how poverty is conceived, measured, and distributed across the globe, and explored some of the most prominent explanations for the persistence of poverty in some places and its reduction elsewhere. But how can we have real knowledge of what causes poverty and how it can be alleviated?
