ABSTRACT
Ethics, broadly construed, covers a wide range of topics. Meta-ethics concerns the ultimate nature and justification of morality. Meta-ethicists focus on whether there is right and wrong, good and bad, and how, if at all, these concepts can be known, should be understood, and are best justified. Ethical theories provide substantive accounts of what right and good action are, identifying principles or rules for how agents are morally required or permitted to act. Practical or applied ethics concerns itself with the specific topics of ethical concern, such as abortion, capital punishment, affirmative action, and promise-breaking. In this section, we are going to focus on how different ethical theories provide different answers to the question of what ought to be done regarding global poverty.
