ABSTRACT

This handbook illustrates the history of transportation development and summarizes existing cutting-edge research and best practices based on an extensive literature review, in Asia. Major topics cover transportation systems, traffic accidents, air pollution, disasters, social exclusion and transport, land use and transport, logistics, and governance in the context of Asia. In total, this handbook is composed of six parts and 20 chapters written from the interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral perspectives. With respect to each topic, readers (graduate students, researchers, practitioners, etc.) are further provided with ideas for future research activities. In the Introduction, major references are provided on major missing aspects of Asian transport from this handbook.
