ABSTRACT

The Light of Hope Saving Program is an asset-building initiative that seeks to address the obstacles facing vulnerable Thai children by supporting their livelihood and education. It is implemented by Rimping Municipality Office in Lamphun Province, Thailand. Although the programme's principal feature is a free saving account with a seed deposit and a savings match, it also includes other supportive activities to foster participants' self-development and positive life perspective. The Light of Hope Saving Program is a pilot initiative designed to build the assets, well-being, and positive life perspectives of vulnerable children in Thailand. Implemented by the Rimping Municipality Office in Lamphun Province, the programme's primary feature is a free savings account with a seed deposit and savings matches. The initiative also provides scholarships, a mentoring programme, and supportive interventions related to reproductive health, drug-abuse prevention, financial literacy, and empowerment. Asset building and disciplined saving behaviours enhance self-development, life well-being, and positive life perspectives of vulnerable populations.
