ABSTRACT

Leadership educators use a variety of exercises, assignments, and learning experiences to help participants in our workshops and courses integrate leadership with citizenship and democracy. These range from inclusive recruitment and session design to attention to democratic virtues and public values to cross-sector leadership projects. Inclusive recruitment and session design have been explored in previous chapters, so they receive attention here only in reference to democratic values. First I will consider assignments and exercises designed to foster democratic habits of the heart and attention to public work; then I will focus on democratic values; and finally, on integrative leadership.
