ABSTRACT

CHAPTER OVERVIEW  In this chapter we are going to address the various ways in which Early Years

Graduate Professionals/Early Years Teachers (EYGPs/EYTs) can develop effective

working relationships with other adults and act as leaders of practice and

innovation in order to ensure that outcomes for children are enhanced and

improved. The chapter will deal firstly with working with parents and carers, move

on to some tips to help with leading practice for an Early Years Team within a

setting (which is further explored in chapter 9 in terms of continuing professional

development), and conclude with a brief consideration of multi-agency working

with staff from other professional groups and backgrounds. The skills, knowledge

and values which support the achievement of these aims will be considered, as well

as how research supports effective practice.
