ABSTRACT

The Projects In Controlled Environments (PRINCE2's) philosophy is that the driving force of a project is its business case. No project should start without a valid business case; a project should be terminated if its business case becomes invalid. Business case describes negative outcomes or consequences of the project and forms part of the project initiation documentation. A project's business case must include all the business changes, costs and impacts of the final product. The project brief must have at least the reasons why the project should be done as part of its outline business case. The project board must be sure that the business case is valid before authorizing the project. A review of the business case is part of every project board decision, such as at each end stage assessment, consideration of an exception report and confirmation of project closure.
