ABSTRACT

A PRINCE2 project is triggered by a project mandate, which is a request to provide a solution to a business problem. The relationship between the Executive and corporate or programme management is similar to that between the Project Board and the Project Manager. The quality assurance, programme management and other experienced project managers may have lessons that can avoid problems or provide good advice. The project management team design is presented to corporate or programme management for approval. The Business Case begins the preparation of the Business Case from information found either in the project mandate or requested from corporate or programme management. If the management of many different user areas is looking for Project Board representation, it may be more effective to form a user committee, whose chair represents all their interests on the Project Board. An alternative approach to having lots of suppliers sharing the Senior Supplier role is to appoint the user's purchasing manager as Senior Supplier.
