ABSTRACT

This chapter presents three PRINCE2 principles are supported by the Progress theme including Management by stages, Management by exception, and continued business justification. A PRINCE2 project includes two stages such as initiation and the rest of the project. There are links to the Controlling a Stage and Managing Product Delivery processes that bring any forecast deviation to the notice of the appropriate level of authority. Authorize initiation is where the Project Board decides if the Project Brief and outline Business Case can sufficiently justify the initiation stage. At a frequency defined by the Project Board in the Project Initiation Documentation, the Project Manager sends a Highlight Report to the Project Board to review progress and achievements in the current stage. A Work Package is an agreement between the Project Manager and a Team Manager to undertake a piece of work. Team Managers provide details of the actual quality checks and Project Support updates the Quality Register.
