ABSTRACT

School Leader Internship: Developing, Monitoring, and Evaluating Your Leadership Experience is written to meet the specifi c national standards of NPBEA’s Professional Standards for Educational Leaders 2015, correlated state standards, and individual professional goals. The intent is to assist aspiring educational leaders in the assessment, design, implementation, and evaluation of a university or district intern leadership experience. The term leadership experience is appropriate and signifi es a radical departure from the traditional internship and/or district training program. In using a leadership development approach, the intern assumes the leadership role. In effect, it becomes a self-strategic plan requiring assessments, timelines, allocation of resources, benchmarks, ongoing monitoring and adjusting, evaluation, and reporting.
