As discussed above, there is no legal requirement for contracts to follow a particular format or layout, but it is customary for modern commercial contracts to do so.
The notes below set out the different sections of a typical commercial contract and the kinds of clauses (and provisions that may be included within clauses also dealing with other issues) that might be included in each section. Example clauses are given in respect of those provisions.
