ABSTRACT
The analysis in the previous chapter suffi ciently highlights the psychocultural underpinnings of image politiking. The degree of success in actual image politiking depends on the star’s ability to imaginatively evolve and effectively manipulate certain politically loaded motifs in the fantasy-politics interface, which constitute what could be termed as the ‘politiking formula’. In the case of MGR and RK at least eight such motifs — octa-motifs — could be identifi ed. These motifs are distinct yet interlaced so as to create a synergetic impact.
