ABSTRACT
The foregoing analysis demonstrates that though both MGR and RK have resorted to tactexting, MGR has done it consistently and effectively by identifying himself with a party and treating politics and fi lms as co-texts, whereas RK has continued to maintain the image of being an ‘outsider’ to politics by not openly belonging to any party and reducing politics to be the context of his fi lms. This difference between MGR and RK, having far reaching consequences in infl uencing the voting behaviour by mobilising the electorate in their favour, could be further illustrated by comparing the ‘twin-centre’ political manoeuvrings of MGR and RK vis-à-vis their respective fans.
