ABSTRACT

Putting on a wig correctly can make a world of difference in the way the wig looks and feels. A performer will always feel more secure if their wig is pinned on well; and the illusion of a properly applied wig will not be spoiled by the performer's own hair coming out from the edges. Hair prep is important to how a wig looks and feels. Hair prep helps hold and hide the performer's own hair out of sight, and provides the anchor points that the bobby pins and wig pins go into to hold a wig in place. Long hair will sometimes make pin curls that are bulky and make the head unnaturally large under a wig. They are very good at tightly packing the hair together. They can, however, be more difficult to pin through when putting on the wig.
