ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an extensive review of the literature to capture and represent the body of work on trust and entrepreneurship. There are a number of opportunities to make substantial primary contributions to entrepreneurship and trust literatures by exploring intra-organizational trust in entrepreneurial ventures. First, future contributions can be made in understanding intra-organizational trust and its influence on opportunity assessment. Second, future contributions can be made in better understanding how intra-organizational trust influences entrepreneurial action. Third, future research can make a contribution by exploring the role of intra-organizational trust in entrepreneurial exit. Finally, future research can make a contribution by exploring the role of intra-organizational trust in how organizations take entrepreneurial risks, approach learning from failure and navigate the pursuit of firm goals. Research on entrepreneurial finance focuses on two primary sources of capital for firm creation, development and growth – venture capitalists and business angels.
