ABSTRACT

Even a mild acquired brain injury (ABI) can lead to significant difficulties with our ability to attend or to concentrate. Consequently, compromised attention ability can seriously impact on our ability to learn (Anderson & Pentland, 1998). It is quite possible that reported

memory problems might actually be due to attentional difficulties, where information has not been forgotten, but has not been attended to in the first place. Therefore, if you wish the person to learn new information you need to be confident that, in addition to other skills, they can also attend effectively.
