ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews emerging technologies for targeting depression, focusing first on computer- and internet-based treatments, followed by a discussion of innovative mobile mental health interventions. It focuses on current internet-delivered adaptions (iCBT) programs, with limited discussion of computer-based programs (cCBT). One control group that is particularly relevant as a comparison condition for iCBT is, of course, face-to-face CBT. One recently developed iCBT program integrates web-based crowdsourcing technology to target depression. Among the available programs, Beating the Blues (BTB) has been the most frequently tested for the treatment of depression. Briefly, the BTB program consists of eight online CBT-based modules, which gradually guide participants in the use of various cognitive and behavioral techniques. In.
