ABSTRACT

The chapter describes how five institutional leaders at one Hispanic Serving Institutions describes organizational change on HSIs own campus, and how leaders implemented changes to improve outcomes for students and the organization. It also examines the leadership approaches, skills, and practices of a range of administrators who varied in age, ethnicity, and gender. The chapter sheds light on how institutional leaders make sense of their HSI status, how they utilize their positions to enact change, and what organizational programs and services they believe are necessary to help Latina/o students succeed. The goal of this chapter is to provide an example of the type of leadership that can be found at Hispanic Serving Institutions. It sought to show the role of leadership in organizational change on a single campus, and how institutional leaders have implemented policies and programs to improve outcomes for both students and the organization.
