ABSTRACT

Whilst many companies might consider that launching a Corporate Entrepreneurship initiative is exactly what they need to find renewed innovative vigour, responsiveness, speed and ability to create wealth, it could also lead to losing their way amid paradoxes and counter-productive tensions. Pursuing Corporate Entrepreneurship should not just be giving in to the temptation to follow the latest trend. Corporate Entrepreneurship functions on two levels, the individual and the collective, and involves three interacting elements: mindsets, behaviours and situations – all need to be analysed and taken into consideration when thinking about a Corporate Entrepreneurship initiative. Corporate Entrepreneurship initiatives are pursued in a variety of situations and for a variety of reasons: the companies involved can be large, rigid but not lacking in resources or they can be small, responsive but with limited financial and human resources. Pursuing Corporate Entrepreneurship implies having a clear strategy and choosing the elements to favour as well as the level(s) to be prioritised.
