Myth one, for Karl Marx, the factory labourer was an alien ated labourer, thor oughly affected body and mind (as the quote above makes clear) by the partic u lar sensory-mental condi tion cultiv ated by repet it ive produc tion-line work. In some quar ters, this figure of the disen chanted
factory worker has formed a crit ical back stop for the emer gence of the oft roman ti cised figure of the creat ive labourer and the creat ive body. This is a creat ive labourer who is mentally and phys ic ally fulfilled by their work, a labourer who loves what they do and thus will put up with any hard ship in pursuit of their goals.
