ABSTRACT
This chapter demonstrates the three types of rules do much to influence the inclusion or exclusion of erotic role-play. Rules take on an important role for erotic role-play. Initially the chapter will look at data from the tabletop participants centered on how published rules are used to shape the inclusion of sexuality in their games and begin by surveying officially published game guides and player handbooks the tabletop participants used in their gaming sessions for insight into the treatment of sexuality in the games they played. The chapter will begin by discussing how erotic role-play is officially banned by World of Warcraft's Terms of Use, and will then move on to discuss the tactical actions taken by players to continue to erotic role-play without getting caught. Finally it concludes by viewing how official rules and community-created rules governing erotic role-play are implemented to paradoxically invite play with sexual content and limit its effects.
