ABSTRACT

Chapter 13 describes the role of the vision in attracting initial interest of potential partners to a GGE and distinguishes it from the roles and processes global policy plays in building a consensus around solutions to global problems. A description of the importance of the role a credible change model plays, relating in detail the actions that would bring about the change articulated by the vision, is presented in Chapter 14. A discussion of the reasons why different organizations-businesses, NGOs, government-might be interested in participating in a GGE is provided in Chapter 15. A specific focus is given to the motivations behind business interests in being a GGE partner. The importance for GGEs to create value that their partners can capture is presented in Chapter 16. An emphasis is made on the different techniques GGEs can use to generate both public and private value from the same GGE activity. Chapter 17 proposes organizing principles to use when building a GGE: four addressing issues of GGE design and four addressing issues of GGE collaboration.
