ABSTRACT

It is important to establish and maintain what we called the reflection process where you and your clients stand back, reflect and communicate about what you have experienced. This process can be regarded as metatherapy, that is, a therapeutic discussion about therapeutic work. One important item that you need to discuss during the reflection process is the doubts your clients may have about Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). It is likely that many clients will have a number of doubts about REBT and its principles If you encourage your clients to disclose their doubts to you, then you can discuss these openly with them and correct any misconceptions that they may hold. In addition, when you encourage your clients to share their doubts about REBT, they consider that their views are being taken seriously, and begin to see themselves as active participants in the therapeutic process, not the passive recipients of your rational wisdom.
