ABSTRACT
Now we're going to gather another pile of colored glass for our kaleidoscope. The “transference” pile. Transference is insider language. We have to say it correctly. It's “trans'ference,” not “transfer'ence.” We sometimes get to say “the transference,” or in clinically mature company, “transference-countertransference.” The word “transference” is like a secret handshake in the psychodynamic world; a signifier of membership.
