This chapter provides valuable advice for the performing artist such as an actor, dancer, lighting guru, costumer, or stagehand, on investing, saving, and building a diversified and stable financial portfolio. It provides unique strategies for integrating financial awareness and planning into the life as an artist, and how that can help to provide a better sense of financial security. The chapter discusses the basics of bonds. Certain terminology is associated with bond issuances and is important to understand before adding bond investments to the portfolio. The terminologies include time, amount, interest, yield, secured bond, unsecured bond, callable bonds, non-callable bonds and ratings. A secured bond is one where the bond issue is tied to a specific, tangible asset that will guarantee the bond's interest payments and principal amount repayment. An unsecured bond is not tied to a tangible asset.
