ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book explores long-term home caring can be difficult, exhausting, sometimes even frightening in the case of any illness or condition. The stress can have a major impact on the health of carers, possibly physical, mental, and emotional. The author's group joined forces with the Aberdeen self-help group North East eating disorders support Scotland (NEEDS). Through them author's group heard about Scottish eating disorders interest group (SEDIG) a group that meets at least twice a year, composed of a mix of professionals and home carers all with a common interest: to share relevant information, discussion, experiences and expertise. Then the group breaks into two or perhaps more smaller groups for discussion: a group for people currently recovering from an eating disorder, and another for carers, each group with an experienced group member or 'facilitator'.
