ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the caring professions including nurses, doctors, surgeons, psychiatrists, mental health nurses, teachers, Special educational needs (SEN) teachers, social workers; community workers need much accurate and relevant information as possible. However, the more relevant the information and resources available and the better the communication, the easier it will be to avoid at least some difficult and possibly distressing even tragic situations. In the UK, great efforts are now being made in all areas across health and welfare systems to create official help for vulnerable people and their home carers. Technology can bring great benefits, but when systems don't work properly it can also cause huge problems. Voluntary and charity organisations can often offer much-needed information and valuable support, having grown originally from a seed of recognition by one or two people of the help that may be needed in all sorts of circumstances.
