ABSTRACT

A male speaker finishes his presentation and there is an invitation for any questions from the floor. After four or five questions I stand up and ask a pseudo-question, which is really a concealed statement. It's an aggressive intervention that cuts abruptly across what's been said before, that doesn't attempt to join in a continuing conversation but is really an attention-seeking ploy to claim superiority for my perspective and to undermine and upstage the speaker's contribution. I'm so intent on making my point that it's as if I've shut my ears to everything around me.
