ABSTRACT

The Long Museum West Bund is a squared exposed-concrete structure, partially

covered in an aluminum mesh skin. Located in an old industrial area, the museum

is driving redevelopment in the neighborhood nearby. Central to the design,

architect Liu Yichun of Atelier Deshaus has left an existing industrial structure

exposed, creating a contrast between the gleaming new building and the industrial

history of the area. Inside the building, half arches of exposed concrete provide

structural support and visual continuity through the galleries.
