ABSTRACT

This chapter continues to develop our various "prop" assets. It explores a few basic approaches to rendering our props. Work to complete our various prop assets, keep in mind that with our approach to rendering, details such as material and texture will need to match the overall level of stylization of the design from a shape/form standpoint. The chapter examines the varying "finishes" applied to the individual props. The best painting tool in Adobe Photoshop is actually not a brush but in fact the lasso selection tool, as it requires a shape-driven approach to design. Design a shadow shape with the lasso selection tool based on the direction of the global light source. For this particular stage, an approach that can be particularly effective is leveraging layer blend modes native to Adobe Photoshop such as "multiply." It examines working with graphics and the importance of proper scaling for our final assets.
