ABSTRACT

The professional photographer today has to have that digital awareness and willingness to embrace new technologies, but they also have to have an understanding and awareness of what has come before. A lot of photographers think that if they buy a better camera they'll be able to take better photographs. As a professional photographer one must be prepared to go wherever the client wants to go to fulfill the commission. Photographers have always been happy to talk about their work for television and radio interviews and to share their work through exhibitions and festivals. The popularity of filters and effects on smart phones, tablets and via photography apps based on traditional photography has in turned inspired and encouraged a lot of young photographers to consider analogue photography. The author wants to introduce the reality of the role of a professional photographer in the twenty-first century, while always remaining positive about the options and opportunities open to people.
