ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on element which has significance in the contemporary world and its far-reaching impact on children and young people. Interspirituality is the natural discussion among human beings about what we are experiencing. Many young people as a result of the culture of relativism that has crept into society, following the loss of power and influence of organised religion and other traditional institutions have been left ungrounded. When young people are unable to draw on the history and accumulated wisdom of a community because the deep connectedness which membership of that community brings is no longer available to them, they may find themselves adrift in a culture of anything goes that infiltrates their lives. Teasdale felt that interspirituality could provide the foundation to prepare the way for a more enlightened culture. The term interspirituality was used by Wayne Teasdale when he discussed a vision of a universal spirituality in the world's religions.
