ABSTRACT

European construction can be continued only if Europe finds new methods for integration and is able to step out from the double trap of neo-liberal economic policies and right-wing populism. Debating, deliberating and identifying the new European public good might conclude in a new politics of de facto solidarity. New methods need to be adjustable both to the conditions of the international system and that of the expectations of stakeholder participants. Euromaidan - the square of Ukrainian independence has witnessed its inauguration in human blood for a life worth living that can be summarized in one word: Europe. 'Ukraine is Europe', declares a proud poster on the Euromaidan. 'Ukraine will always belong to Moscow', declares Vaclav Klaus, a former president of the Czech Republic, one of the most Euroskeptic politicians of the former Soviet bloc countries. The ideological foundation of a German Europe is that of the modern European nation state and its international framework, the Westphahlian system.
