ABSTRACT

This chapter analyzes the development of teacher education evaluation in Taiwan. It understands issues such as the design and operation of teacher education evaluation and reflections on the basis of a pluralistic market and state control, before suggestions are finally provided to support subsequent improvement. Because of the use of evaluation indicators and results, however, the value of neo-liberalism in terms of diversified teacher education, given the operational logic of market competition and performance. It has come to the same effect for the preparation process adopted by teacher education institutions. States should notice whether or not the effects of the similar teacher education processes have undermined the diversified market competition logic. If one has to take care of both market competition, and the performance of new managerialism and the purpose of the state to control quality, the design of the teacher education evaluation system should be adjusted.
