ABSTRACT

This chapter explores developments concerning the education practicum system in teacher education laws and regulations of Taiwan, including policies, laws, and regulations of the Ministry of Education that have to do with the rises and falls and developments of education practicum's. While the education practicum system was taking shape in Taiwan, many systematic and practical issues had to be addressed. The Ministry of Education Outstanding Education Practicum Performance Award and Incentive Guidelines established in 2014 are still ongoing at present. They concern the consolidation and efficacy of education practicums and the enhancement of professional knowledge and skills in interns. The 2012 Guidelines for Universities with Teacher Education to Organize Education Practicum, on the other hand, already had relatively detailed regulations with regard to practicum contents and their weights in the score. Whether or not individual teacher preparation institutions will substantially implement practicum knowledge and skill indicators, however, is pending examination over time.
