ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the various chapters of this book. The book investigates selected interfaces between usability and translation in order to formulate a user-centered model for translation. It first looks at these interfaces from a theoretical viewpoint, contemplating key usability research concepts and their meanings and applicability in practical translation and in translation studies. The book offers practical methods for involving end users and assessing usability in different phases of the user-centered translation (UCT) process, and discussed how the translation industry can benefit from UCT. UCT responds to these recent developments and offers practical tools for taking the end users into account in multilingual projects. Finally recapitulate the main points of the model and reflect on its future potential. In the spirit of user-centered translation, we encourage readers to use and develop the model for their own purposes.
