ABSTRACT

This chapter explains that architectures of systems for networked e-business are necessary to provide structure in a quickly changing context. The architectures are blueprints for e-business information systems. It moves to the contents of architectures, and discusses nature and main concepts of information system architectures, of which networked e-business architectures form a subclass. The chapter talks about e-business architectures at three aggregation levels: market-level architectures, party-level architectures, and system-level architectures. It explains the abstract architectures to show general structuring principles for e-business systems; that is, principles that are applicable to various scenarios. The chapter also discusses the concept and structure of system-level architectures. It presents a discussion on service orientation for the architecture aspect of the BOAT framework, TraXP's party-level architecture and the role of cloud computing.
