ABSTRACT

Today, the production of motion pictures and television programs is distributed across many of these United States, supporting almost two million jobs, paying out over $133 billion in wages, with the average salary being 42 percent higher than the national average. With American studios controlling the lion's share of global distribution and well over a quarter of the globe's movie screens, "Hollywood" remains the world's movie capital. With over a 100-year history, the term "Bollywood" originally applied only to Hindi films, stereotypically vibrantly colorful, musical romances made in Bombay. The average Bollywood film costs about $1.5 million to make versus $47.7 million for the "average" Hollywood movie. Nigeria's $800 million dollar movie industry is fondly referred to as "Nollywood". Nollywood productions are often partially funded by the church, which can result in consistent themes glorifying the moral poor over the corrupt rich.
