ABSTRACT

School culture and climate are important factors for consideration when engaging in school consultation. Culture and climate permeate beyond the physical walls of the classroom, affecting relationships among the consultant, consultee, and client. When engaging in consultation from a multicultural school framework, considering the culture and climate of the school system is essential in order for the consultant to be able to gain a more holistic understanding of the consultant-consultee relationship. ABC Elementary School provided academic services to a population of economically disadvantaged students. ABC Elementary School involved consultant-consultee ethnic similarity and cross-cultural classroom and consultee and, classroom-consultant relationships. The consultee was confident in her abilities and skills in understanding and working with diverse students. This confidence contributed to the consultee's attitude of self-improvement. The consultee adopted and implemented the Mystery Motivator intervention with integrity. Research has validated the use of Mystery Motivator interventions, but the consultees attitude in adopting the intervention largely determined and perpetuated its demonstrated success.
