ABSTRACT
Those of us who helped instigate and organize this effort did not expect that it would be an easy road. On the contrary, we felt that we were taking on an ambitious agenda that would transcend even the few and mostly perfunctory “compare and contrast” approaches to differing theories and traditions that exist in education. Against difficulties, we held out for serious progress grounded in new studies with tangible new results.
