Careful use of daylighting can reduce heating and cooling loads, thus resulting in smaller HVAC equipment size and lowered fossil fuel use. Incorporating smart windows, skylights, atria, and light tubes can reduce the need for electric energy in both new construction and renovations. By providing dark louvers, light can be controlled on a bright day.
