People in the development process

This chapter focuses on various aspects concerning people in the development process. Following consideration of issues such as population growth and distribution, we move on to examine a number of important factors which affect the quality of life for individuals, households and communities – notably health, education and human rights. It is suggested that if meaningful development is to be achieved in the world's poorest countries, these issues need to receive high priority both nationally and internationally.
