ABSTRACT

In chapter 13, Ingraham points to the fact that the context for school consultation is increasingly multicultural and explores what we know about the multicultural aspects of consultation, the process of studying this, and implications for future research and practice in this arena. She states that unless consultation research includes details about the ethnic diversity of its participant samples and the cultural context in which the consultation process and intervention was delivered, it is di%cult to reach conclusions about applicability to other samples and settings. "e importance of establishing the cultural validity of interventions recommended during consultation is emphasized in this chapter. "e importance of an individual’s frame of reference and its potential e#ects on the consultation process is also advanced.
