Cultures vary in their orientation towards expressive or instrumental communication according to their HCC or LCC orientation. Orientation can be inclined towards feelings or facts, the person or the issue. Expressive cultures are happy wearing their heart on their sleeve (not a common English expression), whereas instrumental cultures believe more in self-control.
