ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to offer a brief overview of the possibilities open to those requiring training as trainers. There is no doubt that there is a need for translator trainer training, and similarly that there is little of it available. It also offers some suggestions for action in this field, with a brief outline of how to approach the design of training programmes, and offer information on existing resources for trainer training. By the end of the chapter, readers should be able to decide whether existing resources are appropriate for them and, if not, to design an action plan to cover their own current training needs. It has offered some brief reflections on trainer training, in particular a tentative description of trainer competence, together with some initial ideas on training resources. It is intended to constitute a starting point for further individual or group action to improve teaching practice.
