ABSTRACT

Along with the rapid signal speed growth of the high speed integrated circuit and the decrease of chip size, the effects of transmission lines (such as delay, reflection, dispersion and crosstalk of signals) become more and more obviously, which may even worse cause signal distortion or switch disoperation. The effects of transmission lines have become main factors of the performance and reliability of circuits. Thus, for the sake of designing a well high speed integrated circuit, we need to analysis the main factors of the transmission lines effects, that is to say, we have to analysis the sensitivity of the transient response of the networks containing transmission lines, and then we can optimize the design of circuit parameters. Sensitivity analysis of the transient response of the networks containing transmission lines has become one of hot topic researches,[1] researchers have pointed out several methods, such as perturbation method, gradient method, characteristic method and adjoint network method. Perturbation method is the most original and direct sensitivity analysis method with poor accuracy and efficiency, and when the number of the optimization variables grows, the calculation becomes large, so it is not suitable for the optimization for large scale circuits. Gradient method

simplified dramatically. This method is simple and accurate without decoupling calculation of the coupled transmission lines. The example shows the effectiveness of the method.
