ABSTRACT
The passive play which is regarded as a phenomenon violates the sports essence firstly, and it also fails to reflect the spirit of self-challenging and aggressiveness. It is a kind of serious hurt for the sports enthusiasts, especially for the filed audience. The manifestations are inactive action, deliberate losing, conscious losing points, intentional error and defensive attack etc. The passive play is very obvious in some events such as ball games especially the events competing against the net, but it is uneasy to notice the passive play in some events such as free combat, martial arts and wrestling. The athletes compete passively based on the rules, so it is hard to penalize.
