ABSTRACT

The walking step length of ordinary people is normally about 80 cm, and the step frequency is 100 steps per minute or so. In walking race, the athlete’s step length reaches 100-120 cm, and his step frequency is 220 steps per minute and even more. The feature of walking race technique is periodic alternation between one leg support and two legs support. Not the both feet touchdown, it is the front foot or the rear foot touchdown. Both feet off the ground does not exist throughout. A walking race cycle contains five technical stages: forward swing, back swing, front bracing, rear bracing and vertical bracing. Causes of air-walking foul are complex, and current consensuses are as follows: Stride is too small or too large; Knee angle is small when stop pedaling to forward swing; Body barycenter is fluctuating; Pedaling is inadequate while forward swing is too large; Athlete seeks only to competition when sprint; Terrain environment is unsatisfactory, such as uphill, downhill and turning point.
